Twenty-two post-secondary education scholarships reserved for Canadian USW members in good standing, or their children, 25 years of age or younger, and enrolled in post-secondary education in 2024.
Scholarships are awarded based on an original written statement or video on selected union related topics.

Six post-secondary education scholarships reserved for Indigenous Steelworkers and their families.
To apply: Submit an application form and your written statemtn or link to your video.
Eligibility: Active or retired members of the United Steelworkers, or their children, grandchildren, or immediate family members, who self-identify as First Nations, Inuit, or Metis, and who will pursue post-secondary education in Canada (including a skilled trades program at a college or a technical institute). Priority will be given to applicants who live in remote regions and will attend school far from home.
Amount: Varies
One placement in each district in Canada. Placements are for one to two months. Wages, benefits, and associated expenses will be paid by the Rudychuk Scholarship, subejct to a cap.
Bill Rudychuk was a USW District 3 Staff Representative who worked primarily in Western Canada's mining communities and was a strong supporter of Steelworker education. Bill left a legacy gift of $100,000 when he passed awaya in the mid-1990s for Steelworker education scholarships.

Five $500 scholarships in each Canadian USW District to high school students who are children or grandchildren of USW members, to help continue their education at a post-secondary institution.
Scholarships will be awarded to high school students who create a winning essy or YouTube video about health and safety in the workplace.

In memory of the 26 workers killed in the Westray mine explosion of 1992, the United Steelworkers will be awarding one $2,500 scholarship to a high school student in the Stellarton, N.S., area (Pictou county) who is completing high school and pursuing post-secondary education in fall 2024.
