RE: General Membership Meeting Summary Report for February 19, 2025
The following notes represent my personal summary of the February General Membership Meeting and ARE NOT OFFICIAL MINUTES. They are for the express purpose of keeping the members informed in a timely fashion. Since minutes must be approved at a subsequent General Membership Meeting, any updates which would require the use of the actual minutes would result in updates being one-month old.
The following was approved at the February meeting:

The following motions were approved:
1) Motion – Approved a donation of $220 to the Northland Chorus for their 58th Annual show which will be held on April 12th, 2025. They donate to the Speech Pathology Department at the Sault Area Hospital.
2) Motion - Approved a donation of $500.00 to the support Strong Minds, Run for the Change to be held on May 10th, 2025.
3) Motion - Approved a donation of $500.00 the Rainbow Camp
4) Motion - Approved a donation of $1000.00 to support Threads for Life to be held on May 3rd, 20205.
5) Motion - Approved a donation of $1500.00 to support the Ringette Ontario Provincial A Championships to be held March 13-16, 2025.
The following committees gave a report:
- Grievance Committee - In January of 2025, an anonymous member or members requested a report on the grievance queue. The report is as follows:
Total grievances filed from 2016 to December 31, 2024 are 8337
Total grievances in the queue are 3,508 as of December 31, 2024
Percentage of contracting out grievances in the queue are: 69.2%
Percentage of termination grievances in the queue are: 0.003%
Percentage of scheduling grievances in the queue are: 0.022%
Percentage of non-contracting out overtime grievances in the queue are: 0.040%
President Report
- Mike gave an update on the lawsuit with the Group Health Centre - we have still not heard from the Judge on our lawsuit with the Group Health Centre
- Mike stated that the Company had filed a grievances against the Union regarding Health and Safety. Grievance will be proceeding to arbitration.
- Mike gave details on how the vote will take place for the Provincial Election. We had an All Candidates meeting before our Stewards meeting. The members voted to endorse Lisa Vezeau-Allen, NDP Candidate.
The next General Membership Meeting will be held on March 19th, 2025 at the Royal Canadian Legion at 7:30 pm.
