RE: General Membership Meeting Summary Report for September 17th, 2025
The following notes represent my personal summary of the September General Membership Meeting and ARE NOT OFFICIAL MINUTES. They are for the express purpose of keeping the members informed in a timely fashion. Since minutes must be approved at a subsequent General Membership Meeting, any updates which would require the use of the actual minutes would result in updates being one-month old.
The following was approved at the September meeting:
- Minutes of the August 20th, 2025 meeting
- The financial statement ending August 2025 and the disbursements of $36,403.36. Our receipts were in excess of our disbursements by $61,935.89. This resulted in our General Account being positive by $162,059.78.

The following motions were approved:
1) Motion – Approved a donation of $1000.00 to help the Canadian Bushplane Heritage Centre.
2) Motion - Approved a donation of $500.00 to the Alzheimer Society.
3) Motion - Approved a donation of $25,350.00 to sponsor the breakfast program at the Huron- Superior School Board and the Algoma District School Board.
4) Motion - Approved that the Local Union compensate Krystyna Ferguson for her time spent on the pension grievance.
5) Motion - Approved the cost of $4508.00 plus tax to install two high-definition wide angled cameras for our parking lots for
safety reasons.
Officer's Report
- Brother Joe Krmpotich on behalf of Marc Ayotte reported the following:
Brother Marc Ayotte gives his regrets that he is unable to attend.
Interpro Pipe and Steel in Regina is increasing tube mill production and expanding its workforce by hiring key positions over the next few months to meet growing demand.
The Stand Up for Steel caucus will be held on Wednesday, September 24th via zoom at 6 pm. In this meeting locals will be able to report back on their lobbying sessions and share the impacts of the tariff war on our members and plan the next steps together.
Committee Reports
- Seniority Committee
Sister Janice Merrick reported the following:
I received the 2024 seniority lists back from the Company signed. They should be posted in all departments. If they are not posted, please give me a call.
- JTT Committee
Brother Joe Krmpotich reported the following:
The committee is working closely with CSTEC to help with potential laid off employees.
We have an upcoming tour scheduled in transportation. We have asked Cory Evans to have Cory and myself to attend the (JAC) Joint Apprenticeship Committee meetings.
- Apprenticeship Committee
Brother Chris Izydorczyk reported the following:
3 out of 6 people have been released on their apprenticeship. There was a Step two meeting in regard to having apprentices work alone. We are waiting for the company response.
- CWS Committee
Brother Richard Beall reported the following:
Toni Adams has confirmed that retro payment for the Burner PC 1321, will be made on September 23, 2025.
The retro payment for Iron Reladleman PC 1758, will be made on October 7, 2025. The Iron Reladleman position has a payroll letter dated August 28, 2025.
- Health and Safety Committee
Brother Deam Law reported the following:
The Health and Safety Committee has 8 Health and Safety Reps's as of now. We are short to a full complement of 11 Rep's. If you would like to be a Health and Safety Rep forward your resume.
