RE: General Membership Meeting Summary Report for May 20th, 2026
The following notes represent my personal summary of the May General Membership Meeting and ARE NOT OFFICIAL MINUTES. They are for the express purpose of keeping the members informed in a timely fashion. Since minutes must be approved at a subsequent General Membership Meeting, any updates which would require the use of the actual minutes would result in updates being one-month old.
The following was approved at the May meeting:
- The revised minutes of the March 18th, 2026 General Membership minutes
- The minutes of the April 15th, 2026 General Membership meeting
- The financial statement ending April 2026 and the disbursements of $116,227.59. Our receipts were in excess of our disbursements by $37,916.29. This resulted in our General Account being positive by $135,817.70.

The following motions were approved:
1) Motion – Approved a donation of $360.47 for the MADD Message yearbook
2) Motion - Approved a donation of up to $250.00 for supplies and material related to the garden boxes located at Albert and Blutcher Streets
3) Motion - Approved a donation of $500.00 plus tax for a benefit to support THRIVE Child Development Centre
4) Motion - Approved a donation of $500.00 to support the Rotary Fest to be held July 16 - 18, 2026
President's Report - Mike gave a report
- Mike spoke on the staffing levels. He gave examples of how many working members we had in 2022 - 1963, 2025 - 1918, 2026 - 1276.
- He spoke on the issues regarding the welfare rooms and the problems the Union and members have been having.
- He gave a report on the Sick Pay Policy
- Mike also reminded members that the 7th Annual Steelworkers Charity Golf Tournament is to be held on Sunday, August 9th, 2026 at Crimson Ridge. The Local is looking for 8 members to put their names forward for a spot to play for free. If we have more than 8 names, we will pull names. All names should be submitted by July 23rd, 2026.
The next General Membership Meeting will be held on June 17th, 2026 at the Royal Canadian Legion at 7:30 pm.
