RE: General Membership Meeting Summary Report for July 19th, 2023


The following notes represent my personal summary of the July General Membership Meeting and ARE NOT OFFICIAL MINUTES. They are for the express purpose of keeping the members informed in a timely fashion. Since minutes must be approved at a subsequent General Membership Meeting, any updates which would require the use of the actual minutes would result in updates being one-month old.

The following was approved at the July meeting:

  • Minutes of the June 21st, 2023 meeting 
  • The financial statement ending June 2023 and the disbursements of $204,048.61.   Our receipts were in excess of our disbursements by $8,556.86.  This resulted in our General Account being positive by $89,208.48.

The following motions were approved:

 

·      1) Motion – Approve a donation of $1000.00 to the new Community Resource Centre to provide coffee and sanacks for vulnerable individuals in our community.

President's Report


-     Mike spoke about the EAF.  He announced the Special Membership Meeting on July 27th, 2023 at the Quattro at 9:30 am, 3:30 pm,

       and 7:30 pm.

·      Mike stated that members need to be careful of what they are doing.

-      He also spoke on the fatality of Damien Bryant in Algoma Steel and the investigation that was taking place.

-      He spoke on grievances that have been filed on Health and Safety.

-      He also stated that the Company had requested that trades be moved from Coke and Ironmaking to reduce Contracting Out in

        other areas and backfill with contractors.

-      Mike stated that Code 14's must be requested.  A record of reporting the hazard to supervision must exist.


The next General Membership Meeting will be held on  August 16th, 2023, at the Marconi Hall at 7:30 pm.
